20th Century Studios has presented the first footage from the animated film Ice Age: Boiling Point and announced when the new installment of the cult franchise will be released in cinemas, according to CinemaCon.

The first segment of the new film was shown at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. The spotlight once again falls on Scrat, but this time he is not alone — he has a baby.

In the footage shown, the familiar franchise-style conflict over an acorn immediately erupts between them.

Later, Scrat gives the little one a small acorn, which the baby turns into a kind of pacifier.

However, the calm does not last long. Against the backdrop of an icy landscape, an active volcano appears, and moments later, lava begins to spread.

As a result, Scrat and the baby are forced to escape, jumping from one ice floe to another.

What the actors revealed

During the presentation of the new animated film, Ray Romano, Denis Leary, and Queen Latifah took the stage — actors who have long been associated with the Ice Age franchise.

Romano joked about how much time has passed since the franchise began, ironically noting that the Ice Age itself lasted less time than the film series has existed.

Denis Leary, in turn, reminded the audience that during the years working on the franchise, Romano had already become a grandfather.

Queen Latifah noted that in the new film, familiar characters will find themselves at a kind of crossroads in life.

According to her, the characters will set off to a lost world where new dangers await them, including a volcano.

When the new film will be released

The premiere of Ice Age: Boiling Point is scheduled for February 2027.

The new installment will become the first theatrical film in the franchise in more than a decade.

The film will also see the return of John Leguizamo and Simon Pegg. The new installment is produced by Lori Forte and Patrick Warburton.

At the same time, this will be the first full-length Ice Age film made without Blue Sky Studios, which was shut down in 2021 after Disney acquired Fox assets.

As a reminder, the franchise began in 2002 with the first animated film, which became a major commercial success.

The film earned over 383 million dollars at the global box office and launched one of the most successful animated franchises of the 2000s.

It was followed by four sequels: Ice Age: The Meltdown, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Ice Age: Continental Drift, and Ice Age: Collision Course.

The total global box office of the entire franchise has exceeded 3.2 billion dollars.
