EU countries are obliged to execute the International Criminal Court's warrant for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This decision is not simply political, stated EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, according to Europa Press.

"This is not a political decision; it is a decision of the international court, and court decisions must be respected and implemented," he said during his visit to Jordan.

He added that the court's decision regarding Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is binding for EU countries, as they are members of the ICC.

Borrell also noted that the tragedy in Gaza must end, and the international community must take a step forward to act within the framework of the "apocalyptic situation."

ICC arrest warrants for Netanyahu

Today the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

The court believes that Netanyahu and Gallant are guilty of "crimes against humanity and war crimes committed from at least October 8, 2023 until at least May 20, 2024". This refers to the dire situation in the Gaza Strip after Israeli soldiers entered it.

Israel has sharply criticized this court decision. In particular, Israeli President Isaac Herzog stated that justice has been turned into a "human shield for Hamas’ crimes."
