IAF struck smuggling routes used for Hezbollah's weapon supplies
On the evening of November 25, the IAF struck routes along the Syrian-Lebanese border, which are used for the smuggling of weapons to the terrorist organization Hezbollah, reports the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The attacks are described as a continuation of similar operations in recent weeks aimed at disrupting smuggling routes used by the Syrian regime in the region.
"This is another step in the IDF’s ongoing efforts to degrade the capabilities of Hezbollah’s Unit 4400, which is responsible for smuggling weapons used in terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF forces," the statement read.
The Israeli army also noted that, with the support of the Syrian regime, Hezbollah continues to systematically use civilian infrastructure for its terrorist activities.
Strikes on terrorist command centers
Additionally, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out strikes on terrorist command centers and Hezbollah Executive Council control centers. The military targeted these locations based on intelligence regarding two council command centers and several other command posts.
The strikes were intended to weaken the council's ability to manage, support, and assist Hezbollah's terrorist activities, as well as to disrupt their efforts to rebuild their terrorist capabilities.
"These strikes are a part of the IDF's ongoing efforts to dismantle Hezbollah's military capabilities. The IDF will continue to operate to degrade Hezbollah's ability to carry out attacks against Israel," the statement said.
The IDF stated that Hezbollah deliberately positioned its command centers in civilian areas, using the Lebanese population as human shields.
They added that before carrying out the strikes, numerous measures were taken to minimize the risk of harm to civilians, including gathering prior intelligence, utilizing aerial surveillance, and providing warnings to the civilian population in the area.
Israel-Hamas confrontation
Over the past year, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Lebanese militants from Hezbollah have been exchanging fire as part of the ongoing conflict against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Recently, Israel launched a large-scale strike on Beirut, resulting in approximately 30 fatalities in the city. In retaliation, Hezbollah launched a massive rocket attack on Israel.
Meanwhile, there has been progress in ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hezbollah.
Both Israel and Hezbollah have given preliminary approval for a truce.
A ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Lebanese group is expected to be announced soon.
