Iran allegedly attempted to assassinate US President Donald Trump several times, but all attempts were unsuccessful, according to ABC News journalist Jonathan Karl.

“I got him before he got me. They tried twice. Well, I got him first,” Trump said in a conversation with Karl.

According to the ABC News journalist, US intelligence believed there was indeed a plot to assassinate Trump in 2024.

“The attack was so successful it knocked out most of the candidates. It's not going to be anybody that we were thinking of because they are all dead. Second or third place is dead,” the US president added.

On February 28, following a series of precision strikes by the United States and Israel in Iran, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the defense minister, and the chief of the general staff were reportedly killed. Several other senior officials also died.

On the evening of March 1, President Donald Trump stated that as a result of the strike on Iran, Tehran instantly lost “48 officials,” though he did not specify who they were.

Later, Israel claimed that two days of strikes had eliminated Iran’s entire top leadership, including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his inner circle. Leaders of Iranian proxy organizations were also reportedly killed earlier.
