Hungary to give €1 million to Lebanese army instead of sending weapons to Ukraine - MFA

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced that his country will provide support to the Lebanese army through the European Peace Facility. At the same time, Hungary continues to block the allocation of funds from this facility to aid Ukraine, Telex reports.
According to the news agency, during his visit to Beirut, Szijjártó stated that Hungary maintains friendly relations with Lebanon and is ready to assist in strengthening stability and security in the region.
He said that Hungary will support the Lebanese army with 400 million forints, which is approximately 991,500 euros, "instead of sending weapons to Ukraine."
"We are sending these funds to Lebanon through the European Peace Facility, and we can do this because we are not sending weapons to Ukraine, so we can allocate the money that would have gone there to other countries," emphasized the Hungarian Foreign Minister.
It is worth noting that Hungary has been blocking the distribution of over 6 billion euros from the European Peace Facility for more than a year. These funds are intended to reimburse EU countries for military aid provided to Ukraine.
Earlier, we reported that Hungary is the only neighboring EU member state that Ukrainians consider hostile. This sentiment is driven by Orbán's pro-Russian stance, as he continues to block assistance to Kyiv.
