Hungary is ready to allow and facilitate the transit of Ukrainian grain through its territory, Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar said, Telex reports.
According to Magyar, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a specific request to Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary during the plenary session of the EU summit. He called on them to allow grain to be transported through their territories.
The Hungarian prime minister told reporters that he saw no obstacles to fulfilling this request.
Madyar recalled that a well-established procedure existed a few years ago but was later discontinued
He also said that during their one-on-one meeting, Zelenskyy had noted that it would be a great help if corn could be transported by rail to Western Europe in sealed railcars.
"I said that if it is simply transit through the country's territory, then, of course, there are no obstacles to this," Magyar stressed.
The first meeting of Zelenskyy and Magyar
On October 16, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar held their first official meeting.

Bilateral relations and the rights of national minorities were also discussed in detail.
In addition, Magyar publicly thanked Ukraine's Parliament (Verkhovna Rada - ed.) for its decision officially recognizing that crimes were committed in 1944 and 1946 during the deportation and forced labor of ethnic Hungarians in Transcarpathia.
