Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó responded emotionally to a statement by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk regarding the possible blocking of sanctions against Russia by Hungary. The head of Hungary's Ministry of Foreign Affairs called Tusk a "Soros agent", according to Szijjártó's post on Facebook.

"It might be hard for a Soros agent to understand, but when it comes to teams, we play for the Hungarian team... for us, Hungary comes first," the minister wrote.

He emphasized that Hungary does not want to pay for other people's wars and will not allow its energy security to be threatened.

"Because Hungary comes first for us," Szijjártó explained.

What preceded this

Recently, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that if Hungary blocks the automatic extension of European sanctions against Russia, it will be evidence that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is acting in Moscow's interests.

"If Orban really blocks European sanctions at a key moment for the war, it’ll be absolutely clear that in this big game for the security and future of Europe, he is playing in Putin’s team, not in ours," the Polish prime minister had said earlier.
