Ukraine believes that a ceasefire with Russia at sea should involve halting attacks on port infrastructure, as stated by the spokesperson of the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, in a comment to Radio Free Europe.

"For us, a ceasefire at sea means halting the shelling of Ukraine's port infrastructure. This is how we see it. What Russia puts into it, of course, is not hard to guess, but in any case, we need to read the final document to make any conclusions," Pletenchuk said.

He also pointed out that Russia launches cruise missiles, such as the "Kalibr," at Ukraine from the sea. Since the beginning of the year, the enemy has used them three times.

"I can't say that it was a successful use, for example," Pletenchuk noted.

At the same time, Russia launches "Iskander" missiles and Shahed drones at Ukraine from the temporarily occupied Crimea.

"Yes, they come from the sea, and we meet them from the sea. But is this a maritime component or not? Missiles they launch from aircraft over the Black Sea—are they part of a ceasefire at sea?" he added.

Ceasefire at sea

Earlier, US State Department spokesperson, Tami Bruce, stated that the US is discussing with Ukrainian and Russian officials the possibility of a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia at sea.

According to her, the goal is to expand the ceasefire regime. Previously, both parties agreed to stop attacks on energy infrastructure, but this ceasefire is not yet in effect.
