In today's world, where information overload has become the norm, the ability to focus and remember important things is a real superpower.

RBC-Ukraine tells about a scientifically proven way to improve memory and concentration.

What does science say?

Research from Harvard Medical School and the University of Illinois confirms that regular aerobic exercise (such as brisk walking, running, swimming, or cycling) not only improves physical fitness but also stimulates brain function. It turns out that movement triggers the release of proteins that promote the formation of new neural connections responsible for memory and attention.

What did the experiments show?

Participants who exercised for 30 minutes three times a week demonstrated better results in cognitive tests, measuring thinking speed, concentration, and memory, after just 8 to 12 weeks.

Physical activity improves blood circulation, including in the brain. This supplies brain cells with oxygen and nutrients essential for optimal function. Moreover, exercise reduces stress levels, which is a major "enemy" of memory and clear thinking.

What can you do right now?

Set aside at least 30 minutes for a walk every day.

Choose an activity you enjoy: dancing, swimming, yoga, or brisk walking.

If you don’t have time for the gym, do light exercises at home or during your lunch break.

You don’t have to be a marathon runner to boost your brain. Just move regularly — and within a few weeks, you’ll notice it’s easier to concentrate, and names, numbers, and plans become easier to remember.
