'Holy Rus, nothing is sacred': Ukrainian Council of Churches condemns Russia's attacks on Ukraine

The Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (UCCRO) reported that during the Easter holidays, Russia is attacking Ukrainian cities with missiles and drones, once again proving that for "Holy Rus," nothing is sacred.
The UCCRO noted that despite the festive period, associated with the celebration of the Jewish Passover and Christian Easter, the Russian state continues to terrorize Ukrainian cities and villages with drone and missile attacks and bombings every day and night.
According to the council, as a result of these attacks in cities like Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, Sumy, Kharkiv, and others, many civilians have been killed and wounded, and housing and other public buildings have been destroyed.
"Such actions demonstrate that nothing is sacred for the state that declares itself to be 'Holy Rus'. Basic respect for the value of human life is absent, not to mention respect for the holidays of Christianity and Judaism," the UCCRO emphasized.
At the same time, the council pointed out that this year, Easter is celebrated on the same day by all Christians: Orthodox, Catholics, and Protestants. The UCCRO also stated that this year is particularly significant for all Christians due to the 1700th anniversary of the Nicene Council.
"We, heads of Ukrainian Churches and Religious Organizations, strongly condemn the terrorist attacks by the Russian Federation on Ukrainian cities and villages and call on the world's leading nations to take all possible measures to stop Russia's military aggression against Ukraine and to strengthen Ukraine's capabilities to defend itself and protect life," the council declared.
At the same time, the UCCRO called on all people of goodwill to pray for the victory of truth and a just peace for Ukraine.
"Our condolences go to the victims of Russian state terror, and we beseech the Almighty for just retribution against the perpetrators of this and all other acts of Russian terror against the people of Ukraine," the council concluded.
Double missile strike on Sumy
Today, on Palm Sunday, Russian forces launched a double missile strike on the center of Sumy. As a result of the attack, at least 34 people were killed, including two children, and the number of wounded reached 117, including 15 children.
According to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, the strikes were carried out by two ballistic missiles, causing significant damage to civilian infrastructure, including residential and non-residential buildings.
Local authorities stated that Russia again attacked with a missile containing cluster munitions, and the enemy missile exploded over the city.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that Russia would receive a harsh response for this attack, emphasizing that the enemy would face "our fury and inevitable retribution."
This attack has sparked outrage within the international community. Western leaders condemned Russia's actions, noting that such attacks show a complete disregard for human life.
