Russian aggression is not only directed against Ukraine. This is a full-fledged attack on democracy and Western values, so every country in Europe must make a choice: either it supports Putin or it stands on the side of democracy, states Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.

According to von der Leyen, Europeans are increasingly aware that Russia's behavior will have a growing impact on their lives, and this is also the basis for broad support for Ukraine's integration into the European Union.

"The accession process (of Ukraine to the EU - ed.) that we have right now is an enormously important step. What we've understood is that there can be no 'gray zones' around Europe anymore. You have to decide: either you are with Putin or you are with the democracies. Either you are with the autocrats or you respect our values. The European Union wants Ukraine and the Western Balkans to be part of our European family, because they belong to it," the President of the European Commission emphasized.

Von der Leyen also expressed her belief that the continuation of assistance to Ukraine and the adoption of the relevant law and financial package are in America's interests, as it is not just a war against Ukraine, but Putin's attempt to destabilize democracy as such.
