Harris denies Trump's statement about allegedly agreeing on September 10 debate rules
The campaign headquarters of Democratic Party presidential candidate Kamala Harris has denied claims made by Republican Donald Trump regarding debates. Trump asserted that terms for the debates, scheduled for September 10, had allegedly been agreed upon, citing Reuters.
A spokesperson for the Harris campaign stated that the issue of the debates remains a subject of ongoing discussion with the ABC network.
"Both candidates have publicly made clear their willingness to debate with unmuted mics for the duration of the debate to fully allow for substantive exchanges between the candidates - but it appears Donald Trump is letting his handlers overrule him. Sad!," the Harris campaign said, mocking Trump's tradition of using the word "sad" in his posts.
What Trump said about debates
Donald Trump proposed holding a pre-election debate with Kamala Harris on September 4 on the Fox News channel, which is favorable to him. However, the Democrat declined to debate under the Republican's terms. In response, she stated that she would attend the debate on September 10, which would be hosted by ABC.
Recently, Trump claimed on his social network Truth Social that an agreement had allegedly been reached regarding participation in the debates with Harris. According to him, the rules will be the same as during the debates with Joe Biden.
Trump wrote that participants would stand during the debates, and bringing notes would be prohibited. However, the issue of live microphones remains unresolved. The Republican told reporters that he would prefer a microphone that stays on continuously.
