Hamas stated condition for release of Israeli hostages
Hamas militants are prepared to consider the return of captured Israeli hostages to their homeland in exchange for the release of several "high-ranking Palestinians" held in Israeli prisons, according to The Wall Street Journal.
According to sources, diplomats from Israel, Egypt, and Qatar are currently engaged in relevant negotiations in Doha. Unnamed Egyptian officials mentioned that, in addition to the release of male hostages, the possibility of further extending the existing temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is also being discussed during the negotiations.
Interestingly, according to Egyptian sources, Hamas militants assured during the talks that they would be able to locate and release all hostages, regardless of their whereabouts, even if they are held by other groups in the Gaza Strip.
Ceasefire Regime
Last week, Israel signed an agreement with Hamas for a temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in exchange for the release of hostages. The first exchange took place on November 24, with Hamas releasing 24 individuals, including 13 Israeli citizens and 11 foreigners. They were transported to Israeli hospitals, where they were reunited with their families.
On November 25, the Red Cross received the second group of hostages released by Hamas, consisting of 17 individuals, including 4 foreigners. Subsequent exchanges have continued.
Despite a series of successful exchanges, Israel has reiterated its commitment to resume military operations after the ceasefire ends.
