Half of Crimea loses power as flames engulf Kerch plant after strikes

Today, June 23, a major fire broke out at a thermal power plant in Kerch after reported strikes, leaving half of Crimea without electricity, reports the Telegram channel Crimean Wind.
According to preliminary reports, the strike may have hit a thermal power plant in the Arshyntseve district of Kerch.
The monitoring group said the fire at the power plant has been confirmed. According to available information, a storage tank was hit.
Satellite imagery has also recorded a smoke plume stretching about 47 kilometers.

Where the power outage occurred
Meanwhile, the occupation authorities said the blackout was caused by "technological disruptions in electrical networks."
The following areas were left without electricity:
- Yevpatoria;
- Saky;
- Krasnoperekopsk;
- Dzhankoi;
- Krasnoperekopsk district;
- Saky district;
- Dzhankoi district;
- Krasnohvardiiske district.
The company Krymenergo said emergency repair and restoration work is underway. Power supply is expected to be restored within 24 hours.
Strikes on Crimea
Crimea came under a massive drone attack overnight on June 23, with the Port Kavkaz and several other facilities reportedly hit.
Amid the explosions, the occupation authorities temporarily suspended traffic on the Crimean Bridge.
Over the weekend, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had already carried out a series of large-scale strikes on the peninsula, targeting gas facilities, oil terminals, air defense systems, and logistics infrastructure.
