Actress Gwyneth Paltrow surprised many with a confession about changes in her eating habits. A longtime advocate of the so-called Stone Age diet has decided to give up the strict regimen. What influenced the star’s decision and how she eats now is revealed in the Goop podcast.

Why Paltrow gave up paleo diet

The 52-year-old celebrity, along with her husband Brad Falchuk, got into the paleo diet many years ago, which includes avoiding sugar, dairy products, and processed oils.

The essence of this type of nutrition is to eat only foods that our ancestors could have obtained. One is supposed to eat lots of fish, vegetables, and rice. This way, a person feels healthier and reduces the risk of developing certain diseases.

I really deepened my connection with food and the entire philosophy of macrobiotics, which essentially comes down to how people eat in the mountains of Japan—very locally, very seasonally, she explained.

Gwyneth decided to return to a normal plate. She admitted that she simply got tired of limiting herself. Moreover, her love for eating natural foods turned into an obsession. She was so enchanted by the idea that it became compulsive.

I felt so good that I wanted to share it with my dad, friends, and family, said the actress.

According to the star, with age, it becomes harder to stick to such a diet, also due to certain health aspects. At the same time, she continues to admire the idea of whole-food eating.

How the actress eats now

Of course, she prefers healthy food, but bread, cheese, and a bit of pasta have returned to her diet.

But again, I think it's a good foundation, right? Eating food that is as whole and fresh as possible. I don't think there is a single doctor or nutritionist who would argue with that, the celebrity emphasized.

While announcing the podcast episode, the actress shared photos of dishes she enjoys with her family and friends.
