GTA VI not to be released in 2025: Rockstar announced new date

Rockstar Games is postponing the release of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI until May 26, 2026, reports The Verge.
Initially, the game was scheduled for release in fall 2025, but now the studio has stated that the team needs extra time "to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve."
We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game, they stated on the official Rockstar Games website.
The company emphasized that, as with previous games, their goal remains the pursuit of exceeding player expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI will be no exception. Rockstar Games stressed that they need additional time to bring the project to the proper level of quality. The developers also added that they are looking forward to the moment when they can share new details about the upcoming game.

The first trailer for GTA VI was released in December 2023, and since then, little information has been revealed about the project, apart from the release date, which has now been postponed to next year.
The events of the new installment will take place in Vice City, and at the center of the story will be the series' first female protagonist, Lucia, inspired by the image of Bonnie and Clyde.
GTA VI is one of the most anticipated games of recent years, and more information about the delay may be announced at the next financial report of Take-Two (Rockstar's parent company), which will take place on May 15.
Immediately after the announcement of the postponed release, Take-Two shares on NASDAQ fell by 8% during pre-market trading.
Meanwhile, Grand Theft Auto V remains incredibly popular even 11 years after its release – it recently took first place on Twitch as the most popular game of 2024.
