Chinese leader Xi Jinping is capable of ending the wars in Ukraine and Iran with a single phone call because China remains the main buyer of Russian oil and gas, Senator Lindsey Graham said on Fox News.

He noted that China is currently the largest buyer of Russian oil and gas, helping sustain the regime of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. Graham also pointed out that Beijing purchases 90% of Iran’s oil exports.

According to the senator, if China stopped these purchases, Iran would be "out of business." That is why Beijing has the ability to end both conflicts if it chooses to do so.

"And my message to President Trump (US President Donald Trump) is that — we have you back. And if China continues to do this without paying a price for disrupting the world, then we will have made a huge mistake," Graham stressed.

The senator said he has prepared a bill that would allow tariffs to be imposed on China for purchasing Russian oil and gas.

As a reminder, Donald Trump arrived in China on May 13 for the first time in nine years. A large business delegation accompanied the U.S. president to Beijing, including executives from Apple, NVIDIA, and Tesla.

China’s Foreign Ministry officially announced that Trump’s visit to China would last from May 13 to May 15.

Before the trip, Trump told reporters that he planned to have a “long conversation” with Xi Jinping about the war involving Iran. At the same time, he downplayed the importance of possible Chinese assistance in resolving the conflict.

The meeting between Trump and Xi Jinping began on May 14 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The U.S. president was welcomed with an official ceremony and honor guard.
