Germany has announced an increase in financial aid to Ukraine by about three billion euros in 2026, Reuters informs.

"We will continue our support for as long as necessary to defend against Russia's war of aggression," one government source told the agency.

Germany’s finance and defense ministers will add an additional three billion euros for Ukraine in the final adjustments to the 2026 budget.

The source added that the funds will go toward purchasing artillery, drones, armored vehicles, and replacing two Patriot systems.

Another government source told Reuters that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has backed the plans, which are expected to be approved.

Germany is the largest European donor of military aid to Ukraine, having provided around 40 billion euros since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. In the 2026 budget, Germany has allocated 8.5 billion euros for Ukraine.

Aid from Germany

On Sunday, November 2, Ukraine received new Patriot air defense systems from Germany.

Earlier, Berlin had announced plans to transfer two systems from Bundeswehr stockpiles in early August 2025. The delivery was made with financial support from Denmark, Lithuania, and Norway.

Germany has allocated a new aid package worth 60 million euros for Ukraine. The funds will be directed toward restoring Ukraine’s damaged energy infrastructure.

This money will accelerate the delivery of generators, energy equipment, and mobile thermal power plants.

Earlier, German Finance Minister and Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil said that his country would join European partners in providing security guarantees to Ukraine.
