Germany to hold large-scale drills in case of possible Russian attack on NATO

In Hamburg, Germany, large-scale military exercises simulating a potential Russian attack on NATO countries will take place this fall, reports NTV/dpa.
According to NTV/dpa, in September this year, the Bundeswehr will conduct large-scale drills in Hamburg. These exercises will focus on the rapid deployment of allied forces in the event of a potential war with Russia.
It is noted that Hamburg, being a port city, will play a crucial role as a logistical hub for the transfer of allied forces to the eastern European borders.
The maneuvers, called Red Storm Bravo, will begin on September 25 and are scheduled to last for three days, both day and night. The military will practice the movement of troops through the city, as well as organizing medical assistance and evacuating the wounded.
Why Hamburg is important
Hamburg is a significant logistical center for NATO due to its strategic location in northern Germany. It is close to vital maritime routes and borders with Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.
The city has one of the largest ports in Europe, ensuring the efficient transportation of goods, including military supplies, across the Baltic Sea. This makes Hamburg a key hub for the deployment of NATO forces to countries that may be at risk of aggression, as well as for rapid response to crises.
With its well-developed infrastructure, including ports, airports, and rail connections, Hamburg plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational mobility of the alliance. In the event of a conflict, the city could become a primary logistics and supply hub for military forces heading to the eastern front. This would make it crucial for the rapid delivery of equipment, weapons, and other resources. This enables NATO to bolster its presence in Europe in the event of a threat from Russia or other potential aggressors.
Putin prepares for war with NATO
A new report from the Bundeswehr states that the Russian government is most likely preparing for a large-scale war against NATO. Specifically, it states that Russian President Vladimir Putin is prepared to use force to achieve his objectives.
Meanwhile, Lithuania’s President Gitanas Nausėda has stated that Russia could launch a new attack within just a few years. According to him, Lithuania has four to five years to prepare.
At the same time, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys stated that NATO’s intelligence community has determined that Russia poses a long-term military threat to the Alliance and, by extension, to the broader security of the North Atlantic, including the US.
