Germany has allocated a new aid package of €60 million to Ukraine, which will be directed towards restoring the damaged energy sector, according to a Telegram post from Ukraine’s Prime Minister, Yulia Svyrydenko.

"Germany is strengthening the resilience of our critical infrastructure and contributing €60 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. These funds will help accelerate the delivery of generators, energy equipment, and mobile thermal power plants," Svyrydenko said.

She also noted that during a meeting with German Minister of Energy Katherina Reiche, they discussed Ukraine’s winter preparedness and the strengthening of energy resilience.

"We agreed to establish a joint energy working group and expand industrial cooperation. In December, a Ukrainian-German business forum will be held in Berlin, which could serve as an effective platform for new partnerships between our companies," the Prime Minister added.

She also stated that Ukraine has proposed to Germany the signing of an intergovernmental agreement to support investors — following a model already implemented by Denmark, the Netherlands, France, and Switzerland.

"Today, macrofinancial support is particularly important, and our German partners support any approach that will allow these assets to be used to help Ukraine and bring the war to a close as quickly as possible," Svyrydenko emphasized.

Aid to Ukraine from Germany

Earlier, German Finance Minister and Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil stated that Germany will participate in providing security guarantees to Ukraine together with European partners. However, negotiations are at an early stage and the details are to be determined by Kyiv.

Klingbeil also noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin should have no illusions about Germany’s support for Ukraine wavering. In his words, "Ukraine can continue to rely on Germany."

Additionally, it was reported that over the coming years, Germany will provide Ukraine with €9 billion annually.
