German Minister of Development arrives in Kyiv for unannounced visit
German Development Minister Svenja Schulze has arrived in Kyiv for a previously unannounced visit, Tagesschau reports.
The Minister's visit is part of the preparations for the recovery conference, which is expected to bring together about 1,500 participants, including heads of state and government, in Berlin. The conference is scheduled for June 11 and 12.
According to the agency, Schulze's talks in Kyiv will focus, among other things, on expanding the Ukrainian power grid with German help and training skilled workers.
"People here are rebuilding their country every day, they do not give up. Therefore, it is very important that there is not only support with weapons but also support for civilian reconstruction," she says.
In addition, the politician is taking part in the Summit of Cities and Regions to be held in Kyiv.

Germany's assistance to Ukraine
Germany plays an important role in supporting Ukraine by providing comprehensive assistance, including military, political and financial. Military aid from Germany is essential for Ukraine's defense capabilities.
Germany recently handed over another military aid package to Ukraine.
In addition to the military sphere, Germany actively supports Ukraine's European integration aspirations. Chancellor Olaf Scholz has played a key role in promoting this issue.
At the same time, not all issues of cooperation have been finalized. In particular, discussions about the transfer of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine are still ongoing, despite Scholz's opposition to it.
