German Foreign Minister urges to send long-range weapons to Ukraine to protect Kharkiv
Ukraine needs more long-range weaponry to counter Russia's offensive in the northern Kharkiv region, where the situation around the country's second-largest city remains "highly dramatic," German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.
It is crucial to cut off Russian supply routes and provide Ukraine with weapons "that can be used over medium and long distances," Baerbock said on the sidelines of a foreign ministers' meeting in Strasbourg.
"We are also working with other partners on this," she said, noting that "overall, it is an extremely difficult situation," she added.
Germany has become the second-largest supplier of weapons to Ukraine since Russia's invasion in 2022, but Chancellor Olaf Scholz has so far refrained from supplying Kyiv with long-range Taurus missiles.
