German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock arrives in Kyiv
Today, May 21, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock arrived in Kyiv for an unannounced visit, according to the German Foreign Ministry.
The purpose of Baerbock's visit is to try to assure Ukraine that despite the deteriorating situation on the battlefield, Germany and Europe will continue to stand firmly by its side and will not stop assisting.

"Our support is based on a deep conviction that Ukraine will win this war. Putin is speculating that at some point we will run out of strength, but we have the strength of mind. Together with many other countries from all over the world, Germany stands firmly by Ukraine's side. The people of Ukraine can count on this in the long run," the Minister says.
Germany's assistance to Ukraine
Germany is one of Ukraine's main allies, helping the country in its fight against Russian aggression. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Berlin has provided Kyiv with not only military but also financial and humanitarian aid. In late March, Germany handed over a new military aid package, which included:
- ammunition for Leopard 2 A6 ;
- 18 thousand rounds of 155 mm ammunition;
- 14 Vector reconnaissance drones with spare parts and more.
At the same time, Germany has long been debating the long-range Taurus missiles, which Chancellor Olaf Scholz refuses to provide to Ukraine.
