Georgian opposition groups have put forward demands to the founder and honorary chairman of Georgian Dream, oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili. One of their demands is new elections, this was stated in a joint declaration by the opposition, according to Ekho Kavkaza.

The opposition groups emphasize that fulfilling their demands will resolve the crisis in the country. Their demands include:

  • The immediate release of all political prisoners detained during protests and the termination of all cases against them.
  • The appointment of new parliamentary elections to be conducted by a new, independent electoral body, along with ensuring the political neutrality of law enforcement agencies.

"Georgia's victory, our freedom, is inevitable!" the opposition's statement reads.

Protests in Georgia

Massive protests erupted in Georgia following parliamentary elections. Citizens took to the streets over alleged election fraud, as the pro-Russian Georgian Dream party won by a significant margin.

The protests in Georgia continue daily, with authorities actively using police to disperse demonstrations. Law enforcement has employed water cannons, pepper spray, and other measures against protesters.

Notably, just yesterday, December 4, law enforcement in Tbilisi refrained from dispersing protests for the first time.
