According to the General Staff, preliminary damage assessments confirm that strikes on the Russian Defense Ministry’s Kapustin Yar test range in Russia’s Astrakhan region damaged a technical facility used to service intermediate-range ballistic missiles, an assembly building, and a logistics warehouse.

Strike on Kapustin Yar

In January, Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out a series of strikes on the Kapustin Yar test range in Russia’s Astrakhan region, from which Russian forces had launched Oreshnik missiles at Ukraine.

The Ukrainian military conducted multiple successful strikes on a complex of hangar-type buildings used for pre-launch preparation of intermediate-range ballistic missiles.

According to the military, the attacks were carried out using long-range strike weapons of Ukrainian production, including FP-5 Flamingo missiles.

Several buildings at the site sustained varying degrees of damage, one hangar was heavily damaged, and part of the personnel was evacuated from the range.
