General Staff discloses details of strike on oil depot in Kursk region
Ukrainian Defense Forces have successfully conducted an operation in the Kursk region of Russia, attacking an oil depot and causing explosions near a substation, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Tonight, a strike was carried out on the Polevaya oil depot in the Kursk region," the statement reads.
According to intelligence, enemy air defense systems were operating in the area of the facility. Subsequently, powerful explosions and a fire were reported, likely involving fuel storage tanks.
Additionally, there is information about powerful explosions near an electrical substation in the Kursk region.
"Detailed information on the impact on both targets is currently being clarified," added the General Staff.
What's known about oil depot
The Polevaya oil depot consists of 11 tanks with a total capacity of 7,000 cubic meters and is used, among other things, to supply the needs of the Russian armed forces.
The operation was carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces.
Drone attack in the Kursk region
On the night of July 28, explosions were heard in the Kursk region due to a drone attack.
Moreover, in the course of "repelling" the drone attack, at least two fires broke out in the region: one in the Medvensky district and another in Kursk.
Additionally, the Polevaya oil depot in the village of Polevaya caught fire due to the drone attack. Local residents reported hearing several powerful explosions near the oil depot at night.
