'Game of Thrones' star Coster-Waldau visits Kyiv, takes shelter amid air raid threat

Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, best known for playing Jaime Lannister in the TV series "Game of Thrones," visited Kyiv, according to Reuters.
Where the 'Game of Thrones' star was spotted in Kyiv
Threads user Vita Zadorozhnia posted a photo with Coster-Waldau. The actor was spotted at an establishment in Kyiv's Podil district.
"An ordinary day in Kyiv with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau," she captioned the photo.
The purpose of the actor's current visit has not been publicly disclosed.
Reuters photos dated October 28, 2026, also confirm the actor is in the Ukrainian capital.

In the caption accompanying one of the photos, the agency notes that Coster-Waldau is waiting for a train and preparing to use a metro station as a shelter amid the threat of a Russian missile and drone attack.
In another photo, the actor is already riding in a subway car. The caption also explains the threat of an air attack.
How Coster-Waldau supports Ukraine
The actor has previously taken part in international initiatives supporting Ukrainians.
In 2022, he supported Global Citizen's Stand Up for Ukraine campaign, which aimed to help people forced to flee their homes.
On February 22, 2026, the actor was among the participants at a solidarity event titled "Ukrainian Voices – Stories of Freedom" in Copenhagen.
Ukraine House in Denmark, the Danish Cultural Institute, and Det Ny Teater organized the event.
The program combined Ukrainian texts, readings by Danish actors, and music. Coster-Waldau was among the Danish readers.
