G7 supports Biden's plan for ceasefire in Gaza Strip
The Group of Seven (G7) has endorsed the US plan for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and calls on Hamas to accept it, according to a statement released by the Italian presidency of the G7.
"We call on Hamas to accept this deal, that Israel is ready to move forward with, and we urge countries with influence over Hamas to help ensure that it does so," the statement reads.
G7 leaders emphasized that President Joe Biden's proposal would lead to the release of all hostages, increased humanitarian aid for Palestinians, and a final resolution to the crisis, ensuring the security interests of Israel and the safety of civilians in the Gaza Strip.
Last week, the American president presented a three-phase ceasefire proposal for the Gaza Strip, which Israel has offered to Hamas. The peace plan includes the release of all hostages and a definitive end to hostilities.
It was previously reported that Hamas no longer poses a significant threat to Israel, according to a statement by Joe Biden.
