Frontline and defense issues: Zelenskyy holds another Staff meeting
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held another meeting of the Staff today, August 16. Frontline and defense issues were discussed during the session, according to the statement made by the head of Ukraine on Facebook.
"Held a meeting of the Staff today. Frontline issues that are crucial now. Defense matters that are strategically important," the statement reads.
The President states that the commanders briefed on the situation in the eastern and southern directions. Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi and the Ministry of Defense discussed ammunition. Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and State Special Communications talked about drones and our overall technological capabilities.
Ukraine is ramping up drone production
"In every combat brigade, soldiers prioritize questions about drones, electronic warfare means, and military air defense," the President said.
Zelenskyy explains that joint work is underway with partners to supply the necessary drones and systems and to develop capabilities within Ukraine.
"Necessary production. We are ramping up production significantly. But there is a need for systematization of what is already supplied to the troops and in use. Drones are the 'eyes' and protection on the front line. Different ranges, different objectives. Drones are a guarantee that people won't have to pay with their lives when we can use drones," Zelenskyy added.
The President also explains that this is precisely what they discussed with the military the day before in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. Now, this is the essence of the work for both the General Staff, government officials, and the the Staff.
Zelenskyy's visits to the military
The day before yesterday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy traveled to the Donetsk region. There, he visited the 22nd separate mechanized brigade and other units of the Armed Forces.
Yesterday, he, along with General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, visited the locations of the 3rd and 15th operational reserve brigades of the National Guard, the 47th and 65th separate mechanized brigades, the 46th air assault brigade, and the 10th army corps - the 116th, 117th, and 118th brigades.
Zelenskyy promised to discuss the current needs of the Ukrainian military with the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff.
