Russian troops spent two months attempting a frontal assault on Pokrovsk but suffered heavy losses. The enemy is now beginning to change its tactics, according to a statement by Mykola Koval, head of the press service of the Chervona Kalyna14th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.

According to him, Russia is sending its soldiers "to be disposed of" around the clock near Pokrovsk. Ukrainian defenders are repelling dozens of assaults, eliminating the Russian troops.

"This is just our brigade. If we consider all units together, they suffer colossal losses every day. But this doesn't stop them. They can replenish these losses. As soon as a group moves in, we eliminate it and repel the assault. Another group follows immediately," Koval clarified.

He noted that the Russian forces are trying by all possible means to enter Pokrovsk.

"For two months, they were advancing head-on and suffered heavy losses. Now they've realized it isn't working, so they are attempting to break through our defenses from either the left or right flank. As you can see, we are holding back the enemy as much as possible, as Pokrovsk is a strategically important city," Koval explained.

Situation around Pokrovsk

Earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that the situation around Pokrovsk remains difficult.

The general noted that Ukraine is preparing for all possible scenarios of enemy actions.

According to him, in December, the enemy is losing an average of about 400 personnel killed and wounded daily in the Pokrovsk direction.
