A major freight train accident occurred near Yekaterinburg on the night of Monday, October 26. Nearly 40 railcars derailed, and seven tank cars caught fire, according to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Sverdlovsk region, Russia’s Interfax reports.

The incident occurred on the Reshety–Sedelnikovo railway section in the Yekaterinburg municipal district. As a result of the derailment of 39 railcars, seven tank cars caught fire, and the fire spread over an area of 1,500 square meters.

Emergency services separated the burning railcars, while the intact ones were moved to a safe distance. Traffic on this section of the railway was suspended due to damage to the adjacent track, and passenger trains are not operating along this route.

According to preliminary information, no one was injured in the incident. Specialists are planning to test the air quality in the area where the fire broke out.

Recently, a Su-30SM fighter jet crashed in Russia’s Kaliningrad region. Both pilots managed to eject but sustained injuries.

In addition, Voronezh came under a drone attack this morning. Explosions were heard near the Galereya Chizhova shopping and business complex, after which a fire broke out. Several fire sites have been reported in the city.
