France to hold conference on nuclear safety next week - Macron
As part of its commitments, France will hold a nuclear security conference on October 17, said French President Emmanuel Macron during a press conference following his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"As you know, as part of the work initiated in Switzerland, it was decided to hold several thematic conferences. France, in accordance with its commitments, will organize a nuclear security conference on October 17," Macron said.
The French President also added that the Group of Seven (G7) has already made important decisions regarding support for Ukraine, and next week there will be a significant meeting with the European Council.
"It was important for us to discuss the work plan for the coming weeks, both in terms of military cooperation and diplomatic efforts. We are moving forward according to our agreements," he noted.
Putin's nuclear threats
Russian President Vladimir Putin has once again started to intimidate the world with nuclear weapons. In September, he announced changes to Russia's nuclear doctrine, expanding the conditions under which the nuclear arsenal could be used.
According to him, the new doctrine will allow for a nuclear strike in response to aggression against Russia by any non-nuclear state if it involves or is supported by a nuclear state.
