France's government headed by youngest Prime Minister in country's history
French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed 34-year-old Education Minister Gabriel Attal as Prime Minister, according to The Guardian.
Attal became the youngest Prime Minister of France in the country's modern history and replaced Elizabeth Born, who resigned yesterday.
"The reshuffle comes as Macron is seeking to give fresh impetus to his second mandate ahead of European parliament elections later this year," the agency explains.
What preceded
On January 8, Elisabeth Born submitted her resignation to President Emmanuel Macron. Until a new government is appointed, the former prime minister and her team will continue to handle day-to-day affairs.
Born was the second woman to serve as Prime Minister of France. 30 years ago, the post belonged to Edith Crayson for 11 months. Before becoming prime minister, Born held senior positions in the government.
In July 2023, a new government was formed in France, which included 16 ministers.
