France ready to provide financial support to Ukraine - Macron
The French Republic will continue to assist Ukraine, stated French President Emmanuel Macron while speaking for France 5.
"We should continue to support Ukraine because it will allow us to live in peace. We are not at war with Russia. But we must not allow Russia to win," he said.
According to Macron, for this reason, "in the coming months, France will have to make important decisions."
"We see that people in Europe are beginning to doubt (the assistance to Ukraine - ed.). We can feel that the United States is also having doubts. We should continue to support and strengthen Kyiv's security in the most important areas," the French leader said.
France's position on the war in Ukraine
Since Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine, France has been one of the European countries providing active financial and military support to our country. At the same time, French President Emmanuel Macron regularly calls for a compromise and an end to the war through negotiations with the Kremlin.
A few days ago, Macron said that he was open to dialogue with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin if the latter demonstrated a desire to build a lasting peace.
The French leader also said that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban could be persuaded to support funding for Ukraine in the amount of 50 billion euros.
In addition, Macron called on Chinese President Xi Jinping to maintain a dialogue with Ukraine.
