France on recognition of Palestine: 'Supports the camp of peace'

France, by recognizing Palestine as a state, will prove HAMAS wrong, which has always rejected the two-state solution, according to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of France, Jean-Noël Barrot.
"HAMAS has always rejected the two-state solution. By recognizing Palestine, France proves the wrongness of this terrorist movement. It supports the camp of peace as opposed to the camp of war," the minister stated.
France’s plans to recognize Palestine as a state
On July 24, French President Emmanuel Macron announced Paris' intention to recognize the Palestinian state at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly session in September. This decision sparked criticism from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Meanwhile, as the media write, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is under pressure from his government and Macron with the demand to recognize Palestine as a sovereign state as soon as possible.
According to United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Washington "strongly rejects" Macron’s plan to recognize the Palestinian state in September.
