French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met at the country residence of the British prime ministers. One of the topics of their conversation was Ukraine, according to the Elysee Palace communiqué.

The document states that the meeting focused on international goals, Ukraine, the Middle East, and strengthening relations between the United Kingdom and the European Union.

They also discussed the issue of deepening the relations between France and Britain in the context of the upcoming Franco-British summit scheduled for the summer.

The communiqué noted that the situation in Ukraine was at the center of the conversation.

“The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to coordinate closely to support Ukraine for as long as necessary. They emphasized the importance of continuing to supply the weapons needed to defend Ukraine's territories and of guaranteeing continued financial support for Ukraine beyond 2025. They also emphasized the importance of providing Ukraine with security guarantees to protect it from new aggression,” the communiqué reads.

France's aid to Ukraine

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, France has already delivered AMX-10RC light tanks, Caesar self-propelled artillery systems, SAMP/T air defense system, and more.

In early November, it became known that France wanted to provide Ukraine with a new batch of SCALP missiles.
