Four-day ceasefire begins between Israel and Hamas
Today, on November 24, at 7 AM, a four-day ceasefire between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas, brokered by Qatar, has commenced, according to The Times of Israel.
The announcement notes that just hours before the temporary cessation of hostilities, sirens blared in Israeli cities bordering Gaza. Additionally, there were reports of intense shelling in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military attempted to carry out its mission against Hamas as much as possible in the hours leading up to the pause.
According to Qatari mediators, at 4:00 PM, 13 hostages held in Gaza will be released, followed by an unspecified number of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails.
Over the next four days, the plan is to release at least 50 women and children, while 190 individuals will remain in the custody of Palestinian militants.
Hostage release agreement
Israel has devised a five-stage agreement for the release of hostages.
The Israeli Cabinet approved the release of approximately 50 hostages the day before. According to the plan, Hamas militants will release 30 abducted children, eight mothers, and 12 more women during the five-day ceasefire.
Meanwhile, Israeli President Isaac Herzog said that Jerusalem is experiencing a critical juncture ahead of the planned hostage release.
