Former MP from Opposition Platform Vadym Rabinovych receives pretrial detention
According to the State Bureau of Investigations' Telegram channel, Kyiv's Pechersk Court has issued a pretrial detention order in absentia for Vadym Rabinovych, a former member of parliament representing the Opposition Platform - For Life faction.
The press service stated, "On August 1st, the Pechersk Court in Kyiv satisfied the request from the investigator of the State Bureau of Investigations and ordered pretrial detention in the form of custody for former MP from the Opposition Platform - For Life faction, Vadym Rabinovych."
What led to this decision?
Vadym Rabinovych has been accused of spreading anti-Ukrainian propaganda among the population and political leadership of EU countries, resulting in charges of state treason. The former member of parliament could face up to 15 years in prison along with property confiscation.
As noted by Tetiana Sapian, a communication advisor from the State Bureau of Investigations, Rabinovych will also be declared wanted.
