Forgive Russia for war? Slovakia's Foreign Minister makes surprise statement

Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár stated that resolving the war in Ukraine requires establishing communication with Russia, STVR reports.
According to Blanár, the war between Russia and Ukraine has no military solution, so it needs to be prevented with the help of diplomacy and "compliance with international law."
"We will return to compliance with international law and will look for ways to communicate with the Russian Federation," the Slovak Foreign Minister said.
The Minister also stated that the West must find a way to cooperate with Russia. In particular, Blanár allowed for the possibility of forgiving Moscow.
"And maybe even forgiving everything that happened," the Slovak Foreign Minister added.
Slovakia blocks sanctions against Russia
Slovakia is the country that, together with Hungary, usually blocks decisions in favor of Ukraine and against Russia.
For example, the reports indicated that Slovakia is not lifting its veto on the 18th package of sanctions against Russia. In this regard, the restrictions will likely be adopted at the earliest only next week.
RBC-Ukraine also previously reported that, according to Blanár, Slovakia will stop vetoing sanctions when the EU provides guarantees to mitigate the consequences of giving up Russian energy sources.
