A flood hit the Bulgarian resort village of Elenite. As of today, October 3, one person has been confirmed dead, BNR reports.

According to the Burgas regional administration, a man drowned in an underground garage of one of the buildings. His body was discovered by the fire service. Rescue teams continue to search the buildings.

At the same time, six women were evacuated from the resort village, three of whom are Polish citizens.

In several areas, access for off-road vehicles to flooded buildings is currently difficult. Reports are coming in of people in distress, as well as flooded cars and buildings.

Rescue teams have already been dispatched from the cities of Nesebar and Pomorie. Divers and a special amphibious vessel are operating on site.

Floods in Odesa

Earlier this week, abnormal rains caused flooding in Odesa.

At least 10 residents were killed due to the severe weather, including one child.

Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction, Oleksi Kuleba, said that compensation will be provided to those affected. Authorities also plan to investigate why the heavy rain resulted in such a tragedy.

Kuleba stated that he will prepare a report for the Ukrainian leadership on the causes and consequences of the flood, to be presented today, October 3.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy tasked Kuleba with preparing this report.
