Five regions under attack: Russian missiles and drones target Ukraine, air defense responds
Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones overnight on July 20, targeting five regions, reports the Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Mykola Oleshchuk, on Telegram.
Last night, Russia launched at Ukraine:
- three Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Voronezh region;
- one Iskander-K cruise missile;
- 16 Shahed kamikaze drones from the Kursk region;
- one unidentified UAV.
The Russian occupiers attacked the Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv regions.
As a result of the air defense battle, mobile fire units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, anti-aircraft missile troops, and electronic warfare units of the Air Force shot down 13 aerial targets. The defenders destroyed 12 Shaheds and one unidentified drone.
What else is known about the night attack
Air defense was active in the Kyiv region overnight on July 20. Authorities in the capital reported that fragments of an enemy drone fell in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv.
The Russians also attacked the Poltava region, causing infrastructure damage in two areas.
Additionally, the Russian army attacked energy infrastructure objects in Ukraine once again. Specifically, energy facilities in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions were targeted.
