First ever: Ukraine's Mahuchikh wins World Athletics Ultimate Championship in high jump

Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh has become the first-ever winner of the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in the high jump. The Ukrainian team leader was the only athlete to clear a height of 1.99 meters.
Mahuchikh's path to 'gold'
Mahuchikh skipped the opening height of 1.86 meters, while the Ukrainian cleared the next heights of 1.91 and 1.95 meters on her first attempts. Yaroslava cleared 1.99 meters on her second attempt.
At this height, she was competing only against Australia's Nicola Olyslagers. However, she failed to clear the height.
The top three are as follows:
- Yaroslava Mahuchikh (Ukraine) – 1.99 m.
- Nicola Olyslagers (Australia) – 1.95 m.
- Eleanor Patterson (Australia) – 1.91 m.
Results of the other Ukrainian athletes
Iryna Herashchenko and Yuliia Levchenko also competed in the high jump. Unfortunately, Yuliia was eliminated from the competition at 1.91 meters after three failed attempts.
Iryna Herashchenko stopped at 1.95 meters, also recording three failed attempts. As a result, Iryna and Yuliia finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
