Several regions in Russia were targeted by drone attacks on the night of September 10. Russian authorities report that air defense systems intercepted a drone attack near Moscow, leading to fires in residential buildings and an emergency at Zhukovsky Airport.

The massive aerial attack on several Russian regions is detailed in an RBC-Ukraine report below.

Moscow region

The mayor of the Russian capital stated that a drone attack occurred around 2:30 a.m. local time. Initially, he claimed that an air defense system shot down an aircraft-type drone in the Lyubertsy urban district. Later, the area of air defense activity expanded to include Ramenskoye (where Zhukovsky Airport is located), Podolsk, Kolomna, and Domodedovo (an area near the international airport).

All Moscow airports suspended operations due to the drone attack. The "Cover" plan was implemented, halting both landings and takeoffs.

According to Moscow region authorities, a total of 14 drones were shot down by air defense systems in Podolsk, Ramenskoye, Lyubertsy, Domodedovo, and Kolomna. These figures were provided by the governor of the Moscow region, Andrey Vorobyov.

Russian officials also mentioned efforts to address the aftermath of debris from a downed drone near Zhukovsky Airport (Ramenskoye). However, images have surfaced online suggesting that the explosion damaged the runway, and a fire broke out near the airport.

In Ramenskoye, drone debris fell on three residential buildings: on Sportivny Proyezd, and on Vysokovoltnaya and Fabrichnaya Streets, causing fires in these buildings.

The governor of the Moscow region reported that three people were injured in the building on Sportivny Proyezd, including the death of a 46-year-old woman (earlier reports of a 9-year-old child’s death were not confirmed).

Additionally, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin informed Russian media that drone debris fell on private property in Moscow’s Troitsky Administrative District.

Bryansk region

The governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, stated that air defense systems destroyed 59 aircraft-type drones during the night. He claimed that there were no casualties or damages.

Tula region

Authorities in the Tula region reported the destruction of two drones by air defense closer to the morning.

The regional security ministry mentioned that drone debris fell on an energy facility, though no casualties were reported, and the facility's operations were not disrupted.

Lipetsk region

Governor Igor Artamonov reported on Telegram that drones were intercepted in Yelets, Lipetsk, and Volovsky districts. No casualties were reported, and special services are working at the crash sites.

Kaluga region

Kaluga region governor Vladislav Shapsha mentioned that air defense systems operated in Zhukov, Maloyaroslavets, and Dzerzhinsky districts, where seven drones were allegedly destroyed.

"Operational teams are working at the destruction sites. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties or infrastructure damage," he said on Telegram at 6:12 AM.

Meanwhile, there were online reports of air defense activity near the military airfield Shaikovka.

This airfield, according to Ukrainian volunteer army representative Serhii Bratchuk, is used by Russian forces, particularly for Tu-22M3 bombers.

Kursk region

Local reports mentioned explosions in this region overnight. Acting governor of Kursk region, Alexey Smirnov, later claimed that 12 aircraft-type drones were shot down during a massive attack. He provided no details on the aftermath but urged people to avoid approaching drone debris.

There are also online reports suggesting that the Khalino airfield, a location used by Russian forces to launch Shahed drones against Ukraine, may have been targeted.
