The Telegram channel Exilenova+ reports that two terminals at the refinery are on fire.
Regional Governor Andrey Klychkov confirmed that unknown drones attacked the area at night, causing a fire at fuel and energy facilities. He did not specify which ones.
Attacks on Oryol region
Explosions were heard late in the evening on November 16 in Oryol, Russia. Local sources reported a possible attack on the Oryol thermal power plant. Before this, Telegram channels reported that many drones were flying in the direction of the Oryol region.
The previous attack on Orel was reported on November 13. At that time, explosions were heard amid announcements of missile and drone threats. Local public groups wrote about the work of air defense forces, which destroyed several targets, with some debris falling in a residential area. This moment was captured on video.
There are several oil depots in Orel.
There is also a military base in Orel, from which Russian troops launch Iranian Shahed drones against Ukraine. This base has eight launch pads on the ground and a 2.8 km section of road where drones can be launched from vehicles.
The city is located about 150 km from the northeastern border of Ukraine.
