Drones hit Surgut Gas Condensate Stabilization Plant

Open-source intelligence analysts found that Gazprom's Surgut Gas Condensate Stabilization Plant, named after Viktor Chernomyrdin, was on fire following a drone attack.

Regional Governor Ruslan Kukharuk reported a drone attack on an industrial facility in the Surgut district.

"A fire broke out following a drone attack on an industrial facility in the Surgut district. Emergency services are on scene. Specialists are currently assessing the scale and nature of the damage," he said.

This Gazprom facility was attacked for the first time. It is located 2,350 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

About Surgut plant

The Surgut Gas Condensate Stabilization Plant is located 35 kilometers from the city of Surgut. It is the largest processing facility in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra. The plant supplies gas to Russian and international partners of Gazprom.

It processes gas condensate from fields in the northern districts of the Tyumen region. The gas condensate treatment plant in Urengoy deethanizes the condensate.

Its products include:

  • Winter-grade and Arctic-grade diesel fuel

  • TS-1 jet fuel

  • Unleaded AI-95-K5 and AI-92-K5 gasoline

  • Light gas condensate distillate

  • Stabilized gas condensate (oil)

  • Liquefied petroleum gases

  • Broad fraction of light hydrocarbons

  • Methanol

  • Waste and process gas.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that a tank farm at the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Products Plant's oil terminal in Rostov-on-Don had caught fire. Before the strike, the facility could handle up to 2.5 million tons of oil products annually.

In addition, the Ilsky Oil Refinery halted operations on September 26 after Ukraine's Defense Forces struck it. This time, the strike hit several primary oil refining units and other equipment.
