In the Luhansk region, in the occupied Alchevsk, unidentified drones attacked a metallurgical plant, and there are also reports of a strike on a substation, according to OSINT channels on Telegram.

“The Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant is on fire in Luhansk region,” social media pages reported, alongside photos of a large blaze.

Earlier, there were reports of drone strikes on the substation. Videos from eyewitnesses show the incident, and viewers react strongly to what they see.

Telegram channels also report that in Alchevsk, Russian air defenses failed to respond to the drone strike, and no attempts were made to shoot them down.

“Locals say they don’t even try to shoot them down. The drones keep falling non-stop,” one social media page noted.

What is known about the plant

The Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant is still operational, but its function has changed significantly. After the city was occupied by Russia in 2014, the plant shifted from civilian metallurgy to military production.

Currently, the plant produces armored steel for military equipment and artillery shell casings, processes metal for the Russian army, and performs other operations to support Russia’s military-industrial complex.

The Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant was previously struck by Ukrainian drone forces a few months ago, on December 6, 2025.
