Fire broke out in high-rise building in Kyiv's Pecherskyi district due to Shahed attack
A fire broke out in a high-rise building in the Pecherskyi district of Kyiv amid an enemy drone attack. Residents of the building are being evacuated, reports the city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko.
According to the city's mayor, the upper floors of the high-rise building are on fire.
"All emergency services are on site," the mayor informed.
He also noted that the drone attack on Kyiv is ongoing and urged residents to remain in shelters until the alarm is lifted.
Later, he added that an evacuation is underway in the Pecherskyi district from the building where the fire broke out due to the enemy drone attack.
"Currently, there have been no calls to medical services. Teams are on standby at the scene," the mayor stated.
As clarified by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Serhii Popko, in his Telegram post, as a result of the Russian drone attack on the capital, debris fell onto the high-rise residential building in the Pecherskyi district.
"Preliminarily, there is heavy smoke," the official shared.
Structural damage to the building
According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, partial structural damage occurred to the affected building at the 31st-floor level, and there is also heavy smoke.
"Emergency services are working. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties. Further details are being clarified," the administration stated.
Updated: Firefighting continues, new data on the damage
The head of the Kyiv Military Administration reported that after the fire on the 33rd floor, covering an area of 50 square meters, there was partial destruction of the building structures on the 34th technical floor of the building in the Pechersk district.
According to preliminary information, there are no casualties.
Meanwhile, the mayor noted that the fire occurred on the 33rd (technical) floor.
"Firefighting units are working. The evacuation of people is ongoing. The city has organized two buses for residents. No one has approached medical services so far," stated the mayor.
Shahed attack on Kyiv and its consequences
Last night, Russian forces launched kamikaze drones at Ukraine. Shahed drones were also heading toward the capital. After midnight, an air raid alert was declared in Kyiv.
Soon, it became known that air defense systems were active in Kyiv, and a series of explosions were heard.
Later, the city authorities reported that in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, where the debris from enemy drones fell, the shockwave damaged windows in some apartments of a residential building. Additionally, garages and a car service station caught fire.
