Fire breaks out near Belbek airfield in Crimea
On the afternoon of Monday, July 15, a column of smoke was seen in the temporarily occupied Crimea. Probably, a fire broke out near the Belbek airfield, according to the Crimean Wind Telegram channel.
According to eyewitnesses, it is not yet known whether the fire was caused by grass or "something more interesting". At the same time, pro-Russian Telegram channels report that the fire in Koktebel has spread over a large area of the Karadag Nature Reserve.
Local rescuers are working there, and about 150 specialists and 25 pieces of equipment are involved, including a Mi-8 helicopter from the Russian Emergencies Ministry. The area of the fire is 2 hectares.
Meanwhile, the head of Crimea, Mikhail Razvozhayev, said that a fire also broke out near the village of Vyshneve, where grass and dry bushes are burning.
Ukrainian defenders have repeatedly attacked the Belbek airfield in Crimea, where Russian aircraft are stationed.
Explosions near the Belbek airfield
In May of this year, explosions were heard at the airfield on May 15. It was reported that Russian MiG-31 fighters were hit.
The strike occurred after the United States transferred its long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine. The Russians said that this weapon was used in the attack.
