Today, August 9, a fire has broken out at a local military base in the Russian city of Georgiyevsk, according to Andrey Zaytsev, the head of the Georgiyevsk city district.
"Intense smoke was observed on the premises of the military base on Lermontov Street in Georgiyevsk," the statement reads.

Zaytsev stated that the fire occurred in a storage facility covering an area of 300 square meters.
The district head added that the local fire department of the military base is currently on the scene, and equipment has been dispatched from the firefighting services of Georgiyevsk and Goryachevodsk.

A significant number of fires have been reported on Russian territory recently, both in Moscow and in remote regions.
On August 3, a fire broke out at a battery plant in Voskresensk, Moscow region. Firefighters had to deploy a fire train to extinguish the flames.
On August 4, a fire broke out at a warehouse near the Lada auto center in Yahroma, Moscow region.
