Fire breaks out at Saratov oil refinery following drone attack (video)
Residents of the Russian city of Saratov reported a drone attack on the night of November 8. A fire broke out at a local oil refinery, informs Astra.
The governor of the Saratov region stated that a drone had allegedly been destroyed over the region during the night. According to him, debris fell in the industrial zone of the Zavodskoy district.
Footage of the fire at the refinery in Saratov has been shared online. Residents wrote that it was supposedly the factory's flare. However, the footage clearly shows that the flare is located to the right of the fire's origin.
The Saratov oil refinery is better known as a cracking plant. It is part of the Rosneft (Russian energy company). The plant is located in the Zavodskoy district of Saratov, where, according to the governor, the debris fell.
Russia's Ministry of Defense claims that overnight Russian air defense systems allegedly destroyed 17 drones. Six were downed over the Voronezh region, six over the Saratov region, four over the Belgorod region, and one over the Bryansk region.
Attacks on oil refineries in Russia
Ukrainian forces have carried out dozens of operations, targeting Russian oil refineries and fuel depots. Ukrainian defenders target facilities that support the Russian army and provide fuel to occupation forces.
According to the Foreign Intelligence Service, three Russian oil refineries have partially halted operations due to unfinished repairs. Russians were unable to complete the repairs in October due to sanctions.
